1. Cain learned that the hard way when he did not offer his sacrifice generously with all of his heart! (Gen. 4:5-7, Heb. 11:4) • 2. Nadab and Abihu lost their lives because of a minor adjustment to their offering. (Lev. 10:3) • 3. Saul was rejected by God when he offered a sacrifice he was not authorized to offer. (1 Sam. 13:8-14) • 4. Uzzah was struck dead simply because he touched the ark of the covenant – even though his apparent motive was simply to protect the ark. (II Sam. 6:6-7)

God does not require us to have authority for what we do in religion as long as we do not violate a direct command.”

Genesis 6:14-16 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. Upon what basis are these innovations justified? • “Well, it meets our needs”. • “It gets more people involved”. • “It brings in lots of people”. • “It generates enthusiasm”. • “We really like it”. • “It stimulates interest.” • “It keeps our young people’s attention”. • “It creates a warm, accepting environment”.
1 John 3:7 My little children, let no man lead you astray: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous: Acts 10:35 but in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is acceptable to him. 2 John 1:9 Whosoever goeth onward and abideth not in the teaching of Christ, hath not God: he that abideth in the teaching, the same hath both the Father and the Son.
