Chapter 1 • Manuel had a gambling problem, so Manuel sold Buck to the state of Alaska to pay of his gambling debt.
Chapter 2 • Buck had a hard time adjusting to his new way of life because he used to live in a place where he could anything at any time. Up in Alaska, people choose what he does for him. And Buck was use to a warm climate and he was put into a cold climate so it was hard for him to adjust.
Chapter 3 • Buck kills Spitz. Spitz and Buck never got along from the day they first met, and Buck was tired of Spitz pushing him around and treating him like an outsider.
Chapter 4 • Dave becomes ill and doesn’t want to stop pulling the sled but the mushers know better than to let a sick dog pull the sled so they shoot Dave. Dave did not want to stop pulling the sled, he wanted to be a leader.
Chapter 5 • After thirty days of pulling the sled Buck started to get really weak. Charles, Mercedes, and Hal started to take over the sled team. Since Buck was so weak the sled team let him go and abandoned Buck. John Thornton eventually found him and took care of himbecause John Thorton couldn’t stand to see Buck die.
Chapter 6 • Buck starts to regain his strength with the help of John Thornton. Buck realizes that life is all about survival of the fittest.
Chapter 7 • Buck wandered into the woods and when he came back he saw that John Thornton was killed by the Yeehats. Buck killed some of Yeehats that killed John Thorton. In the end Buck ends up a wild dog and is happy with his own kind.
