  7. Trust Someone Until They Are Proven Untrustworthy • Buck thoroughly trusted Manuel until he sold him. • Buck trusted Hal and Charles until they hit him, didn’t give him enough rest, and barely fed him. • Buck always trusted John Thornton because he took care of him.

  8. Stay True to Who You Are • Within a few months after Buck arrives in Alaska, he adapts to the harsh Alaskan climate. (See quote from chapter 3) • In Chapter 4, Buck takes up the leader position, and is excellent at it, showing himself superior of what Spitz ever was. • In Chapter 7, Buck decides that he has no ties to mankind, so he decides to become part of a wolf pack.
