George Evans Explorer Born in 1780 ??? - Became a Surveyor and explorer ??? - Explored the area that is now the towns of Boorowa and Cowra When he first arrived in New Holland he settled in a place called Parramatta Then the Governor King appointed him Acting Surveyor-General in 1803 He Died in Hobart Tasmania Then he was made Assistant Surveyor of lands at Hobart in 1812. He even in 1813 successfully crossed the Blue Mountains
Ben Hall Bush Ranger Ben Hall started his working life as a young, hard working farmerIn 1862, when he was twenty-four, he was arrested and kept in jail for a short time, he was suspected to be part of a gang who had robbed a stagecoach carrying gold then he was proved innocent and was set free. He returned to his farm. When he arrived there, he found the farm was in ruins and his stock had been stolen or had strayed. His wife had run away with another man and taken their son with her. Ben decided to become a bushranger. He stole a horse and joined a gang. Although some of the gang members were far more ruthless and violent, Ben Hall soon became their leader. They robbed farmhouses, stagecoaches carrying mail and gold, and country hotels
Dan Morgan Bush Ranger Dan Morgan was born in Campbelltown, New South Wales, His mother was an Irish convict. Even as a teenager, Morgan was in trouble for attacking policemen and stealing. When he was twenty, he left for the Victorian goldfields. Four years later he was charged with robbery and sentenced to twelve years' hard labour. Morgan served only six years before he was allowed to go free with a ticket of leave. He fled back to New South Wales and started robbing travellers and farms. Unlike many bushrangers Dan Morgan was brutal and often attacked people for no good reason.
