2. Ned Kelly Ned Kelly is an Irish Australian bushranger. He was well known for being a member of the Kelly gang and for wearing a metal plate helmet. Ned Kelly and the rest of the gang robbed many people including the local bank and post office. They also cut the telephone wires and ordered the railway workers to rip up the line. During this day they held over sixty hostages and within nine hours the building was burnt down to the ground. Three members of the Kelly gang died and Ned was arrested enduring bad burn injuries. He was 25 years old when he was hanged on the 11th of November 1880. I think Ned Kelly was born to cause trouble. I say that because his first court case was at the age of 15. As for the rest of the gang, well I think it might have been the sheep manoeuvre. In other words one person does something and the rest follow.

3. Captain Cook Captain James Cook is a British explorer. He was well known for reaching the captain rank of the Royal Navy and for being one of the first people to discover Australia. During an unexpected trip back to Hawaii, a fight broke out between the locals, Captain Cook and the rest of his crew. Captain Cook tried to hold one of the tribal leaders hostage. Meanwhile a group of locals stole one of their smaller boats. Captain Cook knew that they should head back to their boat seeing as they weren’t so welcome this time round. During the process of getting everyone back onto the boat two men were injured and five men were killed. One of which was Captain Cook. He was struck in the head and then stabbed several times in the back. A traditional service for the funeral took place . Captain James Cook was killed on the 14th of February 1779. I think Captain Cook seem very reliable, modest and a very good leader. Unfortunately he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time.

4. John Caesar John Caesar aka Black Caesar was the first bushranger in Australia. His home country is Madagascar/West Indies. He came over as a convict and ended as a bushranger. He worked hard to get people to trust him but every time people trusted them he would betray them and try to escape. Most of these attempts were successful. He also was considered a hero for a short period of time when he wounded one of the Aboriginal leaders, Pemulwuy. In defence the next time John Caesar went through to the Aboriginal Territory they threw spears at him. Luckily he managed to get away unharmed. For any information to lead the capture of John Caesar would be rewarded with 5 gallons of rum. John Caesar was shot and died four hours later on the 15th February 1796. I think John Caesar has a rather strong personality and is up for anything. He seems very sneaky into tricking you into trusting him.

5. Matthew Flinders Matthew Flinders is an English explorer. He worked in the Navy. Since a young boy he wondered what it would be like to be an explorer. Starting off his dream he was to sail to New Holland. He suggested the name Australia which was adopted in 1824. Matthew Flinders was also the first person to circumnavigate Australia. He sailed round Van Diemen's Land to prove that it was an island and it’s not joined to Australia. Matthew Flinders died on the 14th of July 1814 due to low health and illnesses. I think Matthew Flinders was a dedicated man that loved his job. He accomplished many great things and he would be a good leader.
