    2. New Netherland Becomes New York King Charles II of England gave land to his brother James the Duke of York, between Connecticut and Delaware rivers. This land was already claimed by the Dutch settlers known as New Netherland The Duke – claim land for England Dutch governor Peter Stuyvesant –forced to surrender.

    3. New Netherland cont. Fleet continues on to capture the Swedish – Log Cabins make thriving settlements. By September 1664 all of New Netherland was under English control.
