AIIC – Italian Association of Clinical Engineers • National Conference • Each year AIIC organizes a National Conference in a different Italian city. • The XVI edition took place in Bari in April 2016 with the following features: • Number of registered attendees: 800 • Number of training courses: 10 • Number of speakers (including teachers at the training courses): 112 • Number of exhibitors: 85 • Number of scientific sessions: 14 • AIIC National Conference was taken as • a model for the 1st ICEHTMC that took • place in Hangzhou (China) • in October 2015. AIIC – Italian Association of Clinical Engineers Legislative actions First step for the recognition of Clinical/Biomedical Engineer figure in Italy AIIC proposed an amendment to the bill n°1324 relating to the reorganization of healthcare professionals and to other healthcare issues. In February 2016 AIIC amendment was approved in Health Commission in Parliament. It establishes a Certified National List of Biomedical and Clinical Engineers, already enrolled in the Professional Association of Engineers. This List will be approved by the Ministry of Health and managed jointly by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Justice. The amendment approval was only a first milestone of a long path started in 2014: several times an AIIC delegation went to Parliament and MoH for hearings concerning the amendment. AIIC will continue in this direction working hard in order to obtain the final goal. Global CE / HTM Success Stories

AIIC – Italian Association of Clinical Engineers International Relations • AIIC is affiliated to IFMBE since 2003 • AIIC was among the Organizing Committee of 1st ICEHTMC • AIIC Members elected in IFMBE CED Board: • Diego Bravar was a Board Member in the period 1987-1994, appointed Chair in 1992. • Ernesto Iadanza is present Chair, elected in 2015. • Paolo Lago is a Board Member, elected in 2006 and reelected in 2015. • Regular relations with other CE Associations (e.g. the American College of Clinical Engineering- ACCE, the Sociedad Española de Electromedicina e IngenieríaClínica -SEEIC, the Association Francaise des IngénieursBiomédicaux –AFIB and others) • Collaborations with WHO • MoU signed with ECRI Institute in 2013 for the development of joint initiatives Global CE / HTM Success Stories

Conclusions and Action Plan • AIIC is a possible model for Clinical Engineers Associations worldwide regarding: • Membership • Relationship and partnership, both nationally and globally • AIIC will support the 2nd edition of ICEHTMC hosted in Brasil in 2017 and will organize the 2019 edition in Italy • AIIC will continue to spread and promote the Clinical Engineer figure globally and jointly with IFMBE, WHO, ACCE and other stakeholders.
