Initial Teacher Training Program • Induction – Institute day, College, Faculty and section, Day 2 Institute Workshops – integrating the use of technology • Certificate IV Training and Assessment • Observation and feedback • College-based mentoring • Higher Education
WCD2010 March (v1) Workshops and Certificate IV Training and Assessment • Ensure current, and South Western Sydney Institute contextualised teaching and learning is practiced • Provide strong networking and relationship building opportunities • Integrate Faculty expectations • Basis for completion of the Certificate IV Training and Assessment
WCD2010 March (v1) Teaching observation • Lesson observations are to prepare and develop new teachers and new temporary teachers in relation to meeting Teacher Advisory Assessment Scheme (TAA) criteria • Provide feedback for new teachers • New teachers observe others in their teaching and learning practice
WCD2010 March (v1) Mentoring • Provide support and guidance to all new teachers • College based to provide immediate response and support • Training for mentors 8th March • New teachers meet mentors 31st March • Support by Teacher Education Consultant
Higher Education • Institute funding and support for a teaching qualification • Program will involve offering a higher education program for: • Diploma in Teaching and assessment • Graduate Diploma in Adult Education • Option for a Masters in Education
