  2. Georges Seurat • 2 December 1859 - 1891 • Seurat was a Pointillist. • Pointillism was new method of painting using dotsinstead of brush strokes to create the picture. • He felt that this technique would make the colours more brilliant and powerfulthan those created with brush strokes.

  8. A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grand Jatte is Seurat’s most famous work. It measures at over 2m by 3m! It is displayed in The Art Institute of Chicago.

  9. Your Turn… • Sketch a basic landscape on your page. • Use ear buds or paintbrushes to fill in your landscape with lots of pointillist dots. • Make sure to use contrasting colours.

  10. Your Turn… • Draw your name on a strip of paper • Use pointillist dots to go over your name (use 2 dark colours) • Paint in the background using more pointillist dots (use a bright contrasting colour)

  11. Your Turn… • Use paintbrushes, Q-Tips or pencils to fill a template with pointillist dots. • Make sure to fill each space. • Use lots of colours!
