Themes Thematic Network Kick-off meeting June 27th 2000, Brussels, B ____________________________________________________ WP 5 Safety and environmental assessment methods
Objectives • Extending the work on the methodologies in order to provide a solid base for a European common approach for safety and environmental assessment; • Evaluating the application of the FSA approach to transportation and infrastructure, especially ports.
WP Description WP 5 “Safety and environmental assessment methods”. Coordinator: IST Two Tasks: • Task 5.1 “Assessment methods”. Leader: BMT • Task 5.2 “FSA methods applied to transportation systems and infrastructures”. Leader: DAP
WP Description Task 5.1 Assessment methods • evaluation and validation of methods for the economic, safety and environmental impact assessment of new regulations and/or safety measures; • evaluation of weaknesses and validation status for the methods; • identification of necessary improvements for the European Framework (WP I) • link to WP IV to incorporate human factors
WP Description TASK5.1 Assessment methods • provide input to WP III on data requirements for FSA and ship design; • provide output to WPVI for safety management; • co-operation with TRESHIP TN for environmental risk assessment.
WP Description Task 5.2 FSA methods applied to transportation systems and infrastructures • evaluate how the FSA framework and the present methods can be applied to assess the entire chain of the transportation systems and the infrastructure; • evaluate how consistent acceptance criteria can be applied to the transportation modes and the related infrastructure.
Deliverables • D 5.1: Report on present status for assessment methods (validation status, weaknesses, and application). • D 5.2: Report on the potential application for assessment methods to design and equipment of ships. • D 5.3: Report on application of FSA techniques to cover intermodal transportation, transportation systems and related infrastructure. • D 5.4: Summary report for the task covering assessment methods and their status and the potential application of such methods to cover intermodal transportation, transportation systems and required infrastructure.
