Welcome We're So Glad You're Here
Prelude 2 Part Invention in F by JS Bach
Liturgist: We who gather here come with hopes and expectations. We all do. Some of these are the same or similar, some vastly different. Some are changing at this very moment.
All: Yet, we share the hope that in all the ways we see the world and look for the best, similarities and differences aside - we aspire first and foremost to love and trust in God, serving others, as best we can.
We gather then, in this hope and this love and more, in this place where all hopes lead us to prayer and worship.
Opening Hymn NCH #474 I’m So Glad Jesus Lifted Me
I'm so glad, Jesus lifted me, I'm so glad, Jesus lifted me, I'm so glad, Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.
Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me, Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me, Satan had me bound, Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.
When I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me, when I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me, when I was in trouble, Jesus lifted me, singing glory, hallelujah, Jesus lifted me.
Unison Prayer Recreation of and old-time African American preacher’s sermon on Creation, by American poet James Weldon Johnson.
And God stepped out on space, And God looked around and said: I’m lonely— I’ll make me a world. And as far as the eye of God could see Darkness covered everything. Blacker that a hundred midnights Down in a cypress swamp.
Then God smiled, And the light broke, And the darkness rolled up one side And the light stood shining on the other, And God said, That’s good!
Then God reached out and took the light in God’s hands, And God rolled the light around in God’s hands Until God made the sun; And God set that sun a-blazing in the heavens. And the light that was left from making the sun
God gathered it up in a shining ball And flung it against the darkness, Spangling the night with moon and stars. Then down between The darkness and the light God hurled the world And God said: That’s good.

Musical Praise All Things Bright and Beautiful Music by John Rutter Words by Mrs. C.F. Alexander (1823-95)
Hymn NCH #395 In Christ There is No East or West
In Christ there is no East or West, in Christ no South or North; But one community of love throughout the whole wide earth.
In Christ shall true hearts everywhere their high communion find; God's service is the golden cord closebinding humankind.
In Christ is neither Jew nor Greek, and neither slave nor free; For men and women live in God, and all are kin to me.
In Christ now meet both East and West, in Christ meet South and North; One joyous, true community throughout the whole wide earth.

Musical Praise For the Beauty of the Earth Music by John Rutter Words by F.S. Pierpoint (1835-1917)
We praise thee, O God, our Redeemer, Creator; in grateful devotion our tribute we bring. We lay it before thee, we come and adore thee, We bless thy holy name, glad praises we sing. Amen.
Closing Hymn NCH #391 In the Midst of New Dimensions vs. 1, 3, 4
In the midst of new dimensions in the face of changing ways, Who will lead the pilgrims peoples wandering in their separate ways?
Through the flood of starving people, warring factions and despair, Who will lift the olive branches? Who will light the flame of care?
God of rainbow, fiery pillar, leading where the eagles soar, We your people, ours the journey now and ever, now and ever, now and ever more.
