Mashburn Elementary2013-2014Welcome to EIPEarly Intervention Program
What is E.I.P.? “The Early Intervention Program is designed to serve students who are at risk of not reaching or maintaining academic grade level. The purpose of the E.I.P. is to provide additional instructional resources to help students obtain the necessary academic skills in the shortest time possible.”
EIP is “extra help,” like a band-aid. Students have many successful skills, but a few “holes” or gaps here and there that need to be filled. Our role is to make them “whole.” We often refer to EIP as “double dosing”. Entry into EIP is NOT automatic each year. Unlike Special Education or Horizons, students are not automatically in the program each year. Students have to re-qualify for the program each year.
Who Qualifies for EIP? • All students who score at Level 1 on the CRCT or AIMSweb in Reading or Math • Kindergarten students qualify through their GKIDs’ score. • A few students who score at Level 2 on the CRCT in Reading or Math • New students to Mashburn who are experiencing difficulty in Reading or Math • Students who are consistently experiencing difficulty in the regular classroom
