Georgia’s Reform Plan is Fully Aligned with Race to the Top 2 • Long-standing commitment to rigor and high expectations for all • Complementary investments in high quality curricula and assessments • Significant momentum in improving student outcomes, while increasing the level of rigor and quality of standards • Highly collaborative approach to implementation of reforms, which has made important P-20 initiatives possible

Great Teachers and Leaders Highlights 3 • A system-wide approach based on transparency and better information at all levels • A common evaluation system for all teachers • 50% of teacher and leader evaluation tied to student growth • A bold pay for performance plan for teachers and leaders • Deliberate focus on creating higher earning potential for teachers in high-need, high-poverty schools • Strong partnerships to build a quality pipeline of teachers • Collaborative approach to working with participating LEAs to finalize evaluation and performance plan under Race to the Top • STEM focus

What Makes Us Different?School Turnaround Highlights 4 • Relative successes to date, but need dramatic change • Rigorous diagnostics, conducted by the State in collaboration with external experts, will form basis for selecting school turnaround models • A system-wide approach to turnaround: the district as a unit of analysis rather than the school (portfolio of reforms, feeder schools) • Strong partners (TFA, TNTP, EMOs) will provide human capital capacity where it is needed most – effective teachers and leaders • Single, highly visible point of accountability for school turnaround at the State level will shine a spotlight on the turnaround issue
