Gasification Technologies Council • GTC is the gasification industry trade group. • Members include technology suppliers, equipment companies, industrial gas firms, engineering firms, developers, and customers. • Mission is to educate and promote the use of gasification. Gasification • Highly flexible chemical process that converts coal and other carbon-based materials, into a synthesis gas (i.e. syngas, CO and H) • Above Ground and Underground Coal Gasification • Syngas can be used to produce electricity, chemicals, fertilizers, transportation fuels, and substitute natural gas • Benefits • Reduced environmental emissions • Offers “minimum carbon solution” to utilize nation’s coal resources Gasification Technologies Council www.gasification.org
