PHT 222 - CHAPTER 3 INTERRUPTED DIRECT CURRENT(IDC) / GALVANIC TYPE CURRENT (GALVANISM) LOGANATHAN CHANDRASEKAR, MPT., LECTURER COLLEGE OF APPLIED MEDICAL SCIENCES MAJMA’AH UNIVERSITY
Lecture / Unit Objective Production of Modified DC • Selective Impulses & Type of Impulses • Physiological effects / Indications /Therapeutic uses of IDC • Technique of application – IDC
Student Learning Outcome Knowledge:- Define & outline the principles of production of modified direct current. Describe, memorize & recall the equipment, operation of apparatus, physiological & therapeutic effects, indication , contraindication, advantages, dis-advantages, precaution & dangers of modified direct current. Cognitive Skills:- Compare the main concepts related to the application of modified direct current to other electrical, electromagnetic & thermal (EPAs) • Psychomotor skill:- • Demonstrate safely the application of different electrotherapy modalities focusing on low frequency current in certain conditions or disorders. Illustrate how to communicate with the patients and colleagues 3/16/2014 3
General Points to note – Lab Activity • 1. Preparation of apparatus • 1.a. Assembling of the apparatus • 1.b. Testing of the machine • 2.Preparation of the patient • 3.Stimulation of motor points
