  1. Freshman Health Syllabus River Dell High School Mr. Van Saders

Class Expectations • Be Prepared – bring computer, pen/pencil, folder & planbook • No Food or Drinks in the Classroom • Be On Time – lateness will result in 1. detention 2. detention and call home 3. An administrator is notified • Hand in Assignments on Time – late assignments (no makeups): Turns to a zero • Respect fellow students • Missed Work – you are responsible for any missing work if you are absent.

  3. Grading Procedures • Tests and Quizzes: Each test and quiz will have total points indicated on each. Each item will have different total . All not out of 100! • Your grade depends on the number of points you accumulate in the marking period: • This is an example of a previous Marking period: Total Points (Ex): 560 pts. for the MP • Tests /Quizzes: 310 pts. • Assignments: 130 pts. • Paper: 70 pts. • Participation: 60 pts • Class Participation: 60 pts 1. Class participation points based on the activity for that day (not given everyday) • Any work given out will be worth points so if it is not handed in or handed in late will result in a zero

  4. Health Article Critiques • You will collect health articles out of the newspaper, magazines or Internet articles • Critiques should be a minimum of 2 paragraphs. First paragraph summary of what you read and second paragraph your reaction to the article. Should be at least 4 to 5 sentences per paragraph. The more detail covered the better your grade • Critiques must be typed and emailed and the article’s link needs to be included in the email • The articles will be worth 25pts. 10 pts. for each paragraph’s information and 5 for the included link • These articles will be included as part of your assignment pts. • Critiques will lose 10 points everyday the critique is late

  5. Article Topics The article topic will presented at the time of a specific lesson being cover in class. For example, HIV /AIDs or other STD’s
