GoalsMajor strides have been taken to address the following program goals: • Expand education opportunities, close achievement gaps, support college and career goals and prepare students for global competition • Reduce the cost of technology access to P-12 schools, higher education institutions, and state agencies • Reduce the travel and personnel costs of state agency trainings and P-12 teacher professional development via online courses • Increase technology application skills of New Mexico youth and adult learners. • Facilitate more cooperation between P-12 schools, higher education institutions and state agencies playing an integral support role to educators and learners throughout New Mexico.
To accomplish these objectives, IDEAL-NM provides eLearning services for P-20+ learners in the following ways: • IDEAL-NM is NM’s eLearning Service Center • Statewide Virtual School (Cyber Academy) • Statewide Learning Management System (Infrastructure) • Repository of online courses (grades 6-12) and other instructional resources • Web Conferencing System (P-12 and state agencies) • Higher Education Clearinghouse
New Mexico’s eLearning Service Center: IDEAL-NM provides • training, technical assistance and help desk support to P-12 schools and other P-12 entities, higher education institutions, and state government agencies in the deployment and management of their portals. • IDEAL-NM provides the following trainings: • portal administration • course design • online teacher training
Statewide Virtual School/Cyber Academy • Virtual School • >3,500 course completions to date • 89% Pass Rate • Highly qualified teachers • Quality online courses aligned with NM content standards and benchmarks/performance standards and national standards for quality online courses • High quality support services for students, parents and site coordinators/learning coaches • THE SCHOOL: • Enrolls students ($200* per enrollment) • Designates site coordinator/learning coach • Provides space and technology for online students • Supports and monitors students • Transcripts final grade • IDEAL-NM • Provides a highly qualified teacher and course content • Provides support to school site coordinators/learning coaches • Academic watch to ensure student success • Submits final grades to site coordinators • Participation: • 72 districts, 2 BIE, 26 charters, 5 private and 2 JJS
Statewide Learning Management System • IDEAL-NM provides a single, statewide eLearning Management System that is available for use by all colleges, universities, school districts, charter schools and state agencies. Participation: • 12 IHEs • 62 K-12 • 42 State Agencies

Repository of online coursesIDEAL-NM has developed 59 quality, online, and standards-based courses for grades 6-12 and other educational resources. The repository is continually expanding by IDEAL-NM and partners contributing to the repository.

Higher Education Online Learning Clearinghouse • Collaboration of NM’s colleges and universities that provides: • The ability to search a catalog of online courses • A schedule of online courses • Links to colleges and universities providing these online courses • Information for college students about getting started in eLearning, answers to FAQs, and a list of programs offered online • Updates are made to the clearinghouse by the colleges and universities
