  2. Teacher Page Objective: The students will practice the elements of story setting. This should help them compose a story to a prompt. • Setting is establishing the place, time, season, time of day, historical period, mood, and the like in which a story happens. Summary:

  3. Teacher Page Activity: The students will draw a picture to show a setting. If time allows they can write sentences to describe the setting. Procedure: 1. Read through the slides and discuss them with the children. 2. Follow the directions and draw a picture of the sentence as they picture it. 3. In groups or as a class, write a paragraph describing the setting.

  4. Setting is the place and time, or where and when a story happens.

  5. Picture this sentence in your mind.Quinn was walking to school.

  6. Did you picture--the country,the city,or the suburbs?

  7. Was Quinn going to school today or in the past?

  8. Was Quinn going to school in the morning, afternoon, or evening?

  9. Was he going in the winter, spring, summer or fall?

  10. Draw a picture of Quinn going to school. Include details that will show time and place.

  11. Write a paragraphdescribing details of the setting. The end
