Unit 3The Power of One Each of us can make a difference! • This unit builds on the first 2 units, “What is Truth?” and our “Survival” unit. • Throughout this unit we will focus on the story of Anne Frank which is set during WWII and the Holocaust. Although the topic of the Holocaust and war times can be quite depressing, we will focus and end on the theme of how people made a positive difference during extremely difficult times. • Like Anne Frank, there are others who have made a positive impact on others through their idealistic outlook on the world. To start our journey, let’s meet Malala.
Quote of the week “One child, one teacher, one book, one pen can change the world.” ― MalalaYousafzai, Malala is a young Pakistani girl who advocated for education for girls in Pakistan. The Taliban sought her out and shot her in the head, but she survived to continue her fight for an equal education for all. She was awarded the Nobel Peace prize at 16 years of age.
