History of the Counts, Knights and Merchants who Inhabited Jose Pineiro’s Alquimia Hostel

Jose Pineiro owns a historic hotel - The Alquimia Hostel, which keeps an interesting history marked by illustrious people. The clients of this hotel are the residents of a bourgeois house. According to Veronica Lamberti's research, the Baroque farm dates back to the late 16th century. At that time, the family of merchants from Barcelona, Fonte, got hold of the properties in the area and bestowed them to their relatives. This house was also inhabited by Pedro Irigoyen, knight of Carlos III, and later on, in 1876, it was acquired by José Antonio Martínez Yepes. In 1931, the foundation was established under José Antonio Martínez Yepes’ name and his work continued until 2014, when the Alvernia residence closed. He was the last owner of the house and turned it into the house of charity in 1878.
