Explain Your Work (Communication) • I knew that the total pounds had to add up to at least 17, so for each combination I tried, I used the number model (3 x Bags) + (5 x Bags) >= 17 • To figure the price for each combination, I added $1.15 for each 3 pound bag and $1.63 for each 5 lb bag. • To come up with combinations, I started with using all 3 pound bags whose total weight was at least 17 pounds. After that, I started taking out 3 pound bags and adding in 5 pound bags so that the weight was at least 17 pounds. • I used 4 other combinations of bags. I found that the combination of 1 3-pound and 3 5-pound bags was the cheapest way to get at least 17 pounds of beans.
