South Florida WorkforceOne Stop Career Center The purpose of this presentation is to provide our customers with information on who we are and what services we provide.
Who is South Florida Workforce? • Through the administration of federal and state funded programs, the South Florida Workforce develops and supports workforce initiatives that meet the needs of workers and address the demands of businesses and industries in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.
Available Services South Florida Workforce assists employers and job seekers through the provision of: • Employment services; • Unemployment compensation claim application information; • Training (Occupational, Customized and On-the-Job Training, ESOL, Remedial Education). • Electronic classrooms (specific locations only)
Who are our customers? • Employers • The general public • Eligible Adults • Dislocated Workers • Recipients of Temporary Cash Assistance • Recipients of Food Stamps • People with Disabilities • Other individuals seeking employment services who meet specific criteria
The general public can access core services that include but are not limited to: Job search,placement and career counseling; Job vacancy listings Employment related information (labor market and employment statistics); Determination of eligibility to receive assistance for available services; Supportive services information (including child care and transportation); Use of the Resource room for job search and specific program related activities. What services are available?
What is the Resource Room? • A place at the One Stop Career Center where materials and equipment is provided to assist the customer in career exploration and job seeking activities.

What happens if I need additional services? • For those who are not able to satisfy their needs at the core service level, the One Stop Career Center operator must determine whether the customer is eligible for more intensive services.
Accessibility at a One-Stop Center • One Stop Staff are trained to assist individuals with disabilities • One Stop Staff are committed to providing all services and information to everyone • Services available: • TTY machines • Requesting interpreters • Additional accessible equipment is available at each center. Please ask the Greeter or Resource Room attendant for location and/or assistance.
Other available services are program specific (eligibility must be determined) • Programs available through a One Stop Career Center include Welfare Transition, Workforce Investment/ Innovation Act (WIA), and Food Stamp Employment and Training.
How can I access these services? • If you need further assistance a career advisor can explain available services, provide eligibility determination and refer you to the appropriate service you are seeking.
Services available to WIA eligible customers • Staff assisted Job Search and placement assistance; • Staff assisted job development; • Staff assisted workshops and job clubs;
Services available to WIA eligible customers (cont’) • Comprehensive assessment of skills and service needs; • Career counseling; • Training through Individual Training Accounts (ITAs);
On-the-Job Training; Customized Training; Child care, transportation and other supportive services; Services to employed workers; Social services referrals; Case management. Specialized services for the disabled. Services available to WIA eligible customers (cont’d)
Additional Services for People with Disabilities • For individuals with disabilities, additional counseling support, planning and job referral assistance is available. • Social Security recipients can receive information on Ticket to Work and referrals to Benefit Planners.
WIA Program eligibility • You may be eligible for WIA assisted or training services if you meet eligibility criteria: • Must be 18 years or older • Eligible to work • Registered for the Selective Service (if applicable) • Meet Income eligibility criteria (if applicable) • Resident of Miami-Dade or Monroe Counties (if applicable)
To determine WIA eligibility • We will need documentation such as birth certificate, passport, pay stubs, social security card, etc. • A Career Advisor will be assigned to you. • Eligibility will be established when you meet with the Career Advisor.
TRAINING • For those who qualify, training is available in occupations that are in high demand and that pay wages that will lead to self-sufficiency.

Up-front diversion services; Assessment Job Search Employment Preparation Domestic violence services; Legal services; Substance abuse and mental health counseling; On-the-Job training; Work experience; Community service work experience combined with education; Services available to Welfare Transition customers
Services available to Welfare Transition customers (cont’d) • Vocational Education or Job Training; • ESOL; • GED preparation and Literacy education; • Support services such as child care and transportation;
Services Available to Welfare Transition customers (cont’d) • Incentive bonus after employment • Transitional benefits up to two years after Temporary Cash Assistance is closed • Retention Incentive Training Accounts (RITA).
Services available to Food Stamp Employment and Training customers (In Monroe County) • Assessment; • Assisted job search; • Employability skills training; • Transportation; • Referrals to other programs/services.
Youth ages 16-21 • If you are a youth ages 16 to 21 and have not completed high school or GED you can access other services through our Youth Opportunity Centers a list of locations is available in our website.
Services for Refugees • If you are a Refugee you can access other services through other South Florida Workforce funded Refugee Services. A list of locations is available in our website.

If you are not satisfied with our services… • We would like to meet your needs through an informal process, please talk to your career advisor or immediate supervisor. • Ask the greeter for a copy of the Complaints and Grievance process for South Florida Workforce programs (also available in our website).
