  2. Spiritual Gifts The 3 Questions we’ll wrestle with: Why? What? How?

  3. Why? ‘Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.’ -famous atheist

  4. Why? Who am I, O Lord God? 2 Sam 7:18 ‘Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaoh, and that I should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?’ Exo 3:11

  5. Why? ‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.’Isaiah 55:8. Our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus…’ Philippians 2:5

  6. Why? No matter where you are in life, perhaps we can all agree with the following statement: I’m shaped to be part of something significant!

  7. Why? 1. Spiritual gifts teach you about God’s grace. • We have different GIFTS, according to the GRACE given us. Romans 12:6 • Gifts: Charisma • Grace:Charis

  8. Romans 12:3 For by the grace [GIFT] given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.

  9. Romans 12:4-6 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. We have different [GRACE] gifts, according to the grace [GIFTS] given to each of us.

  10. Why? 2. The Lord is shaping your heart for significance. Proverbs 3:5-6 The key word is ‘trust’

  11. Why? 3. Scripturesays your life is being shaped for significance. Jeremiah 29:11 This commonly quoted verse was written to a group of people who had lost everything.

  12. Why? 4. Spiritual gifts reflect God’s grace in light of ____________. Matt 28:19-20 “You were made by God and for God-and until you understand that, life will never make sense.” Rick Warren, from the book, ‘The Purpose Driven Life’

  13. What? 1. Spiritual Gifts are NOT • The gift of eternal life • NOT the same thing as… • NOT your personality, natural talents, passions

Types of Spiritual Gifts ManifestationGifts Also referred to as the supernatural gifts, these are regularly taught on in charismatic and Pentecostal churches. 1 Corinthians 12 Examples: word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous powers, prophecy, discernment, different kinds of tongues, interpretation of tongues

  20. How? 3. Practice using your spiritual gifts. 2 Tim 1:6

  21. How? 4. Help others find their spiritual gifts. 1 Cor 12:4-7, Eph 4:12

  22. Conclusion Which option applies to you? Where are you at with Jesus? Is it time to discover or re-discover your spiritual gifts? Is it time to find a place to serve in the body of Christ?
