The night before and the morning of exams A brief overview on what you should do. (And a little bit of what you should not be doing)
The night before • Check which exams you have the following day. (time, location, subject) • Make sure you have everything you need for the exam. (pens, ID card etc) • Go to bed at a reasonable time. • Stay up late on revising. • Go to bed in the early hours of the morning. • Pack unnecessary items for your exam like MP3 players/phones. (these are all banned from the exam room)
Night before continued..... Parents • Try to keep them motivated and calm by talking to them. • Recognise they will become stressed and try to get them to do something to relax. • Make sure they have set their alarm clock.
The morning of your exams • Wake up in plenty of time before the exam. • Eat breakfast (or take a banana with you if you cannot face food) • Aim to arrive at least 30 minutes before your exam is due to start. • Check the road/traffic information to make sure there are no delays on your route. • Check you have everything you need.
The morning of continued..... • Take a pen you enjoy writing with it will help (take two just in case!) • Take water with you (in a clear plastic bottle with no labels) • Go to the toilet before the exam. • Make sure you are in the correct location for your exam.
Try not to stress before the exam Remember to breath, take your time and read the questions carefully.
Keep repeating to yourself • Everything will be fine. • It will be over soon. • Remember no one is going to die. Or what every mantra works for you. Good luck! (but remember the more you prepare the less you have to rely on luck)
