Well Data Management • An ongoing effort to get data for wells organized • Swift is early to mid-way through the effort • Data management realities • You always want to be farther along than you really are • 100% done is a myth • The next upgrade or deliverable will always perfect the process (similar to the restaurant sign reading, “Free appetizers tomorrow!”) • Have to decide when is ‘good enough’ to get in front of users for business decisions

CEO Request in 2007 • Two online maps • One for competitor analysis • Shows activity in our core areas (permits, drilling, completions, historical wells, currently producing wells, etc.) • One for Swift assets • Swift wells – themed various ways (production volume, type, status, etc.) • Swift facilities and pipelines • Swift drilling activity – linked to current and historical drilling reports • Swift lease positions – HBP, unitized, expiring, etc.

Search for Web-Based GIS Solutions • Had to tie to ERP system (Enterprise Upstream) for production volume charting • Should leverage Internet technology and be easy to use • Did not need to be cartographically perfect, to be used for screening and business insights, not survey/regulatory quality mapping • Looked hard at Google Earth • Very good for 2D & 3D, flexible & extensible, large market share • Ended up choosing Microsoft Virtual Earth as basis for web GIS • Lacked 3D but was extensible, growing market share, ability to tie to ESRI SDE with addition of Visual Fusion, used SharePoint and had ability to tie to unstructured data as well as relational databases

Now Build It! • Swift has very few developers, the ones we have were dedicated to ERP reports and interfaces • Shopped for integration vendor to tie together GIS and relational databases (SDE, Enterprise Upstream and Rimbase) • Chose Stonebridge Technology www.sbti.com • Business relationship with IDV • Houston office • Strong Sharepoint, web and development staff • Have worked with Swift in the past on Intranet and SQL Server database management projects

Now Build It! • Application For Expenditure approved in May 2008, project completed in Dec 2008 • Delivered 2 online maps • Competitor map showing Swift assets over its core areas + competitor wells & activities • Hot Spot map shows Swift wells & assets, clickable through to get production volumes on the fly.

Future Uses & Questions? • Next steps for WebGIS? • Include HS&E incidents as layers on map with integrated data/pictures • Increased links to financial measures for core areas & fields (LOS, profitability, production, KPI’s) • Run more custom analysis of our competitors, and publish the results internally - bringing GIS data analysis more to the forefront of Swift’s business leaders. • Use WebGIS as both a business analysis tool and way to introduce Swift to GIS
