This study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Diabetes Distress Scale in patients with type 2 diabetes in Turkey. The study found that the scale had good construct validity and internal consistency. The findings support the use of the scale in assessing diabetes distress in Turkish patients.

Aim Toevaluate;
Results Construct validity The KMO measure of sampling adequacy was 0.884,exceeding the recommended value of 0.6 and Bartlett’s test of sphericity reached significance(P < 0.001) suggesting adequate sample size andfactorability of the correlation matrix. Based on thesefindings, it was concluded that the dataset was suitablefor EFA to identify underlying components.
Results The sixth item of the scale was removed by the expert's recommendationbecause it was lower than 40%. The exploratory factor analyses yielded a 16 item measure with a three factor solution.
Results The internal consistency of each scale was estimated by Cronbach’s alpha coefficient. Cronbach’s alpha coefficient for the DSC-R was 0.91. In addition, all of thesubscales surpassed the 0.90 threshold for acceptableinternal consistency reliability (α = 0.92–0.96).
