Assignment • Find someone to work with and choose one of the artists or writers in this powerpoint to research and analyze. Do more than just a wikipedia search! • What was their work? What did it mean? What was its impact? How did if effect the war? If appropriate, interpret the work. Explain the background and connection the artist had to Spain and the war. How else did they get involved in the war?

Miguel Hernandez- poet and activist. Jailed by Franco and wrote some of his best poems from jail about the horrors of this war. Worked with Second Republic.
Ernest Hemingway “For Whom The Bell Tolls” About an American who goes to Spain to fight Franco. Shows brutality of this war.
