  3. If we can learn to recognize the progression of temptation, then we can stop it in its tracks.

  4. Set the Scene • A “very good” creation • Ruled by blessed image-bearers • With one prohibition • Which was a gracious opportunity

  5. Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world...

  6. Progression of Temptation • Attacks the Heart • inspires an ungrateful attitude • exaggerates the prohibition

  7. Progression of Temptation • Attacks the Heart • v2: she minimizes God’s provision • v3: she exaggerates God’s prohibition

  9. John 8:44 “[the devil] does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
