Welcome to Algebra 1A Mrs. Horensky
COUGARS Classroom Expectations Cell phones and other electronic devices (earbuds) need to be put away during class (In the assigned envelope). If they are seen, they will be confiscated. On time is the best way to come to class. Once you enter class, sit in your assigned seat and complete the PDN problem. Utilize appropriate behavior in the classroom (Raise your hand when you want to speak. Do not eat or drink in class). Disruptive and/or negative behaviors (sleeping, talking, coming late to class, cell phone use, out of assigned seat) will result in points off on your Classroom Conduct grade. Get a pass to leave the classroom. You need to ask permission to get a pass first. Always come prepared for class. You need to bring your math textbook, notebook, and pencil with an eraser every day to class. Respect everyone and everything in the classroom at all times. Disrespect of any kind will not be tolerated. Stay in your seat until you are dismissed from class. Do not line up at the door.
Calculators You are assigned a calculator to use this semester. Make sure that you take only your calculator and return the calculator when you are finished to the correct number slot.
Textbooks • You will be assigned a textbook before you leave on the first day. • You must sign out the textbook to ensure that you will be returning it. • Please do not leave the textbooks in the room. • You are responsible to pay for the textbook if you lose it. • It will be announced on what days you will need to bring the textbook.
Grading Policy Tests: will be announced and a review will be given before a test. If a student is absent on test day, they are expected to take the test on the day that they return to school. Quizzes: most quizzes will be announced, but a review will usually not be given. Homework: is expected to be fully completed when it is given. Problems must be written for full credit. Homework is graded on a scale of 0-5 depending of completeness. (You MUST show work on the homework assignments) Classwork: needs to be completed when it is assigned. These are not optional assignments and will impact your grade if not completed. Exam (Final): will be announced in advance and a review will be conducted before the exam. The exam will cover all the material that was taught throughout the entire semester. Classroom Conduct (Test Grade): behavior will be monitored daily. Negative behaviors will result in points off of this grade.
