  1. RaDiate Collaboration Activities at BNL Nick Simos, Mohamed Elbakhshwan BNL March 20, 2015

  2. Summary of RECENT Activities • EDXRD vs. XRD of irradiated Graphite, Be and AlBeMet post-experiment analysis • Preparation of three publications for submission to Journal of Nuclear Materials • Submission of NSLS II XPD Beamline proposal for x-ray diffraction experiments that include irradiated graphite, C/C composites, Be, AlBeMet, Ti6Al4V, Glidcop and other super-alloys • Hot lab re-arrangement and re-configuration. Dilatometer main processor “upgrade” • Resistivity-conductivity fixture receipt. Implementation awaiting hot lab re-configuration finalization

  3. Neutron-irradiated LBNE Graphite

  4. EDXRD analysis of neutron irradiated POCO graphite using the “white beam” of X17B1 NSLS Beamline – 2-theta space Able to capture the primary peak associated with the inter-planar crystallographic direction and even lower where lattice imperfections, i.e. dislocations, are induced by irradiation)

  5. Proton Irradiated Graphite

  6. X-ray diffraction of irradiated POCO graphite using the “monochromatic” beam at X17A beamline of NSLS in D-spacing space. NOTE the greater detail of the crystallographic planes at the higher 2-theta as compared to the EDXRD but the inability to resolve the larger spacing between basal planes and the lattice imperfections.

  7. Comparing EDXRD (white beam) and XRD (monochromatic) over the same space

  8. EDXRD Experiment & Analysis of LBNE Irradiated Graphite and CC Composites
