  2. What is ODP? • Open Directory Project is a vast worldwide directory of subjects from an ever growing plethora of editors that add, review, and monitor the directory. Anyone can be an editor and it just takes a little time to create an account to join the community. The purpose of the entire site is to function as a community that cooperates to make a highly comprehensive list of search results.

  3. How do I search? • At the main page there is the search bar as with all search tools. You may enter a word or key words of your choice. Or, you may select from the directories provided below if the popular tags matched what you wished to search for.

  4. Advanced tools • In the advanced search (located near the search button) you may filter your results based on a particular category as the list shows. • Also granted are selections to find sites for particular age range for younger viewers (kid sites, teen sites, mature teen sites)

  5. Example • For this instance, we will use the word “Kenpo”, a type of martial arts. Setting the filter to only register results for the sports category.

  6. Example (continued) • The results are shown after hitting search. As you can see, they first show the categories that you can refine the search too. In this case the different schools of Kenpo, places to learn, and an option to show more categories following them. In addition to that you may see all the directory results individually below them.

  7. Example (continued) • Notice also below there are a list of search engines that also have these results that you may click on to search from there.

  8. Example (continued) • Clicking on one of the categories to further filter results, the list changes and shows less results that match all the search parameters.
