Force Explosive Safety Officer (FESO) • Responsible for advising Force Commander on all ammunition and explosives safety matters • To implement explosive safety activities within the deployed force
Checklist • Threats to the mission • Reconnaissance for ammunition storage areas • Sufficient technical knowledge in recce party • Appropriately qualified officer during operation • Qualified soldiers • Mechanical handling equipment
Checklist (continued) • Space for safe storage and handling • Operational requirements deviating from IATG • Effects if a storage module explodes • Waiver and acceptance of residual risk • Conditioned containers / storage locations • Location for damaged / captured ammunition
