Supplemental Math Test • All students will take a supplemental math test on Sunday,April 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. to confirm placement. • Students will test for the level that they request. • The Honors test will be different from the Algebra I test. • Results will be communicated following the testing. For now, make the best guess on your plan of study. ****This will also be the time for an important Parent Orientation…..please put this date on your calendar*******

14. Plan of Study *Find the Recommendations for English, Math and Science classes. *Choose 1 option & mark the circle for your choice. Mark the class YOU REQUEST. *Note the number of credits.

15. Front Side Complete • To complete the front side, total the number of credits requested so far (including the 2 theology classes and the history class.) • Your total will be 4.5 or 5.5 depending on your math choice. • Write the total in the blank at the bottom of the page.

16. Turn to the Back Side • 8 minus …..write in the number from the front side and subtract • Write your answer in the blank labeled “Number of Credits of Additional Classes to be Chosen” (will be 2.5 or 3.5) You must choose classes so that you have EXACTLY 8 CREDITS

17. MARKING YOUR CHOICES USE CIRCLES ON THE LEFT to indicate courses you choose to complete 8 credits. These are the choices that will be entered into the computer. THESE NUMBERS HELP GENERATE THE MASTER SCHEDULE. You will NOT choose courses in every subject area. Choose only enough classes to complete 8 credits.

18. Back Side Choices • Students will NOT take classes in every category during 9th grade. • Refer to the PowerPoint and Course Catalogue for completing this section. • You must choose enough classes to equal exactly 8 credits.

19. Study Skills • Study Skills is designed for students identified by iConnect teachers as needing help in getting organized to do high school well. • Class is limited to 10 students per quarter. • iConnect teachers will make recommendation for placement. • If it is recommended by the iConnect teachers, it has been marked already on your Plan of Study. • If it has not been marked for you, you may select it as an alternate only.

Reading Improvement • Students reading significantly below grade level as identified on the placement test will be assigned to this class as a condition for acceptance. • iConnect teachers will make recommendation for placement. • If it is recommended by the iConnect teachers, it has been marked already on your Plan of Study. • If it has not been marked for you, you may select it as an alternate only.

Communication Classes • One credit of Communications is required • Speech I - Entry level for most students • Public speaking class • “Recommended” or “Not Recommended” based on English class • Students with “Not Recommended” should wait until 10th grade or provide teacher recommendation • Review PowerPoint and Course Catalogue

25. Fine Arts Courses • One unit required for graduation • Multiple opportunities in • Art • Drama and • Music • Great opportunities for freshmen to connect to an activity that will last throughout high school

Physical Education • One Credit required for graduation • Fitness for Life (can be taken each year) • Athletic Trainer (application required) • Athletic Team in the block • Students may participate in only one sport per season • Fitness for Life may be taken in addition to athletics…but not during the same quarter • See PowerPoint for important details

Physical Education • In most sports you are not guaranteed a position for a team; YOU MUST TRY OUT FIRST • It is very important to reserve a spot in your schedule if you plan to try out for a sport that would put you in the block. • Athletic Trainers should complete the application and choose a preferred sport. Athletic Trainers will be expected to attend 3 summer workouts…choice of dates.

34. World Language Requirements • World Languages offered at BK include: Spanish, French, Latin and Chinese Bishop Kelley doesn’t accept middle school credit, but we do placement at the appropriate level based upon proficiency See PowerPoint for details

35. World Language Levels • If you are “Not Recommended “ for a world language, but have been successfully taking a language course, provide a teacher recommendation to take Level 1. See PowerPoint for details.

36. World Language • Testing for Advanced Levels must be completed by May 1st. • Must provide an alternate language if you are starting at Level 1. • If Spanish is your language, you will probably take a placement test at school. • Check out the Online PowerPoint for me details.

38. Alternates Alternates are EXTERMELY IMPORTANT It is very possible that you will not get all of your first choices. Not every class is offered in every time slot. Please choose AT LEAST 5 alternates. Must meet prerequisites for the alternates you choose. If you do not choose alternates, we will choose them for you based upon classes available.

39. Alternates Mark alternates using the small squares to the right of the course . You may choose to number these in order of priority. You must meet the requirements for any class you choose as an alternate.

40. Summer Offerings • Bishop Kelley will offer 4 classes to incoming 9th graders for credit during the summer. • $375 Tuition • Opportunity to earn ½ credit which could allow more flexibility in the schedule in future years • Opportunity to meet some new classmates • See page 26-27; 29 for details

41. Summer School • Enroll online through Back Pack. • First-come, first-served once online summer school enrollment opens. You must have completed the regular enrollment contract before you will be able to enroll in Summer School. The Registration Fee must be paid or arrangements made with the Business Office. • Online summer school enrollment opens March 1st. • Tuition for summer school due by April 1st (or make arrangements with the Business Office).

42. Oklahoma History • Class maximum is 40 students with 2 teachers. • Pre-requisite: English 9A or Honors English 9 • There will be a waiting list if enrollment exceeds capacity. • Current students will be given priority. Summer school opens for incoming 9th graders on March 1st for all who have completed the Enrollment Contract.

43. Speech I • Class maximum is 25 students. • Pre-requisite: English 9A or Honors English 9 • There will be a waiting list if enrollment exceeds capacity.

44. Basic Design • Class maximum is 25 students. • Pre-requisite: None • There will be a waiting list if enrollment exceeds capacity.

45. Computer Literacy • Class maximum is 24 students. • Pre-requisite: None • This class is the “gateway” to other computer software classes and is an excellent choice for students prior to beginning 9th grade.

46. Contract and Payment • The Enrollment Contract is now available online through your BackPack. You should have received an email with instructions to login and complete your contract. Please review the contract along with the Mandatory Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy. The policy is available online on the Admissions Enrollment Forms page. • When you complete the online contract you will also pay your enrollment fee online with a credit card. You can also pay with cash or check in person. The enrollment fee is $275 but if you pay before March 1st, there is a $50 discount. • The deadline to complete your contract and accept your position in the Class of 2021 is March 1, 2017.

47. Final Plan of Study The Final Plan of Study (green copy) is due by March 1, 2017. Those submitted by the deadline will receive priority in course selections. Plans of Study received after March 1st will be scheduled based on availability. Plans can be turned into the Admissions Office (MQP), mailed to the school, faxed to 918-609-7184, or emailed to dbutler@bishopkelley.org

49. Tuition Assistance Deadline to complete the online FACTS forms is April 15, 2017. Available now through the Bishop Kelley website under Admissions-click the Tuition and Tuition Assistance link to the forms. Tax information is required to complete the application.
