  2. Definition • Primary sources are uninterpreted sources of information that provide insight into time period during which they were produced.

  3. Critical Attributes • Uninterpreted • Produced during the time period being studied

  4. Objectives • General: C3 Applies concepts and principles to new situations • Specific: C3.1 relates critical attributes to examples of the concept • Specific: C3.2 Uses concept definition to determine examples of the concept

  5. Standards • Strand 1 American History Concept 1 Research • PO 5. Evaluate primary and secondary sources for: • purpose and perspective • facts vs. opinions • different points of view on the same historical event credibility and validity

  6. Establish Set • Bring in some original diaries and some articles about the diaries for the students to look at and write brief responses to: • What is the purpose of this writing? • What is the perspective? • Whose point of view is being shared?
