  2. ACE Project has meant to me: • Test of practical living skills, initiative and adapting to different environments • Tourism and culture • Science/Politics of the Autism spectrum • Interacting with interesting people

Test of practical living skills, initiative and adapting to different environments • Like ‘military manoeuvres’ – find limitations under more complex requirements and ways to improve • A happy emergency – unlocked special reserves ! ‘Socializing’ at restaurant ? Noise not visible here Caution about unknown food Hostel Celica – Ljubljana Gymnastic skills required to descend safely!

Test of practical living skills, initiative and adapting to different environments (2) • ‘Executive functions’ rarely used this thoroughly in our simplified, partly supported daily life Self-organization ? After a while, everything got mixed up. Whose is each thing ? Pack up quickly!! Deep excited-fatigue after Need to ‘stim’, hum, sleep at day

  5. Tourism and culture • Ljubljana May 12-14th, 2010 • Others also saw: Postojna cave, Ljubljanica castle (choices, choices… I went to the scientific conference) Ljubljana – Dragons bridge and Castle Hill City Hall, Obelisk of 3 rivers

  6. Tourism and culture (2) • Our special interests too ! More motivation Pipe organ of Franciscan church - my special interest since several years Railway station Everyone enjoyed that !

  7. Science/Politics of the Autism spectrum Conference May 14th – Fuzine Castle “Inclusion – Switch from minus to plus” Nada Kavkler – with Asperger’s presents on her school transitions Ciril Horjak – Adapted job training Cartoon drawing – art and technique

  8. Science/Politics of the Autism spectrum (2) Formal dinner as ‘networking’ environment Not our natural medium; groups remained isolated Aurélie Baranger – director, Autism Europe Evelyne Friedel – president, Autism Europe André Masin – president, AFG France Slovenian Polka Hat dance was fun!

Interacting with interesting people • Much different levels of initiative, speech, English among us • We’d like communication opportunities less formal than a ‘press conference’ and less noisy than e.g. restaurants • Talking while walking helps… e.g. in a park Rok Kraigher – 40, Asperger’s Syndrome we had nice discussion: history, linguistics Janja Kranjc – Avtizem Slovenia Photos and written names useful for recognizing later…
