Introduction Subcommittee for Cadastral Data (hereafter called the Subcommittee) will assist the lead agency to coordinate federal agencies, Tribal, state and local agencies and the private sector interests in cadastral data, including the facilitation of exchange of information and transfer of data; the establishment and implementation of standards and guidelines for quality, content and transferability of data; the identification of business requirements, the construction, publication and maintenance of the national cadastre and the collection of spatial data to minimize duplication of effort where practicable and economical. .

Authority and Authorization • National Cadastral (Parcels and Cadastral Framework such as PLSS) • Provide leadership and facilitate the development and implementation of needed FGDC standards, including a data content standard for each data theme. Agencies will assess existing standards, identify anticipated or needed data standards, and develop a plan to originate and implement needed standards with relevant community and international practices • Provide leadership and facilitate the development and implementation of a plan for nationwide population of each data theme.

  6. Authority and Authorization • National Cadastral (Parcels and Cadastral Framework such as PLSS) • Standards Development (completed) and Guidance • Supporting Development of Sustainable, Quality Cadastral Data Sets by Appropriate Stewards

Authority and Authorization • Agency Managed Cadastral (Parcels and Cadastral Framework such as PLSS) • Prepare, maintain, publish, and implement a strategy for advancing geographic information and related spatial data activities appropriate to their mission, in support of the NSDI Strategy. • Collect, maintain, disseminate, and preserve spatial information such that the resulting data, information, or products can be readily shared with other federal agencies and non-federal users, and promote data integration between all sources • Coordinate and work in partnership with federal, state, tribal and local government agencies, academia and the private sector to efficiently and cost-effectively collect, integrate, maintain, disseminate, and preserve spatial data, building upon local data wherever possible.

  9. PLSS Data Standardization • Green – complete and published • Red-brown – in progress • Yellow complete in review • White – not started • Gray – not a PLSS state

  10. PLSS Data Publication • Facilitated Development of Standardized Data Sets • BLM is Looking at Alternative Approaches

Federal Parcels • Final Report Completed and Published in November 2011 • Next steps will be to define a draft set of attributes for federally managed parcels. • Review and eventually finalize with “core” set of attributes for federal parcel • Need for a separate update from the FGDC working group chair, Doug Vandegraft

  14. Next Meeting • The next meeting of the Subcommittee for Cadastral Data will be held on a TBD Date. It will take place via teleconference. • Some of the topics to be discussed at the next meeting include: • Authorities • Agencies Coordination and Reports • PLSS • Federal and Indian Parcels (Rights and Interests) • Private, State and Local Government Parcels

Next Steps • In the coming months, the Subcommittee for Cadastral Data to accomplish/discuss: • Facilitate the Publication of more Standard PLSS Data Sets and the Update of Existing Data Sets. • Facilitate the Initiation and Adoption of National Standards for Federal Parcels. • Continue to Support Wildland Fire with the Establishment of State Gov. Based Parcel Data Access and/or Distribution. • Update Cadastral Data/Contact Inventories
