What is Internet Safety? • Using caution and common knowledge to keep away from online dangers • It is very important because once anything is put on the internet, it stays on the internet
Sites that can be Harmful • Facebook • Myspace • Youtube • Many people have been harmed by these sites
Internet predators • Never agree to meet anyone in person that you met online • Don’t open any emails or messages from someone you don’t know • Be careful with people online
Don’t Believe or Put Up with Everything you Read • If you read something that sounds like a lie or unrealistic it probably is false • If someone says something inappropriate tell an adult right away • Don’t respond to messages that are weird or scary • Don’t lie about your age or anything online
Information and Protection • Don’t put out any personal information • Don’t do anything without permission • Never buy anything without adult supervision • Don’t choose a screen name with part of your name in it • Keep your passwords a secret
Be Careful • Never post or send anything that you wouldn’t say or show to your mom • Don’t vent your feelings online • Never be a bully • Inform someone if you are bullied • Anyone can see your posts at any time
Most Importantly • Do not get hooked on the computer • Get exercise • Think about what you send or post
