Nowadays, more and more Malaysians are using internet every day. No matter why you have a computer at home or what do you do with it at school or office, Dangerare going to get you some day. Therefore, I would like to share 5 reminderto everyone.
Check the web page URL – A secure connection the address displayed should begin with “https” – note the “s” at the end.
Check for the “Lock” icon - There is a de facto standard among web browsers to display a “lock” icon some where in the window of the browser.
Turn on your spam blocker. • Regularly update your anti-virus software • Encrypt important data you don’t want compromised.
Be wary of providing personal information via a website you know nothing about. • Avoid getting taken in by common scams, such as foreign lotteries, phony sweepstakes and similar methods used by cyber criminals to get your personal information and money.
Never post your name, address, phone number, school name, and any other information that would be used to try and contract you offline. • If someone sends a mean or threatening message, don’t respond.
Never open e-mails from someone you don’t know or from some you know is a bully. • Parents should not put a computer in child’s bedroom. Keep their computer is a busy area of home.
Keep your credit cards in a purse or wallet close to your body where it can’t easily be snatched away. • Shred anything with your credit card number on it.
Keep an eye on your card during the transaction, and get it back as quickly as possible. • Don’t sign a blank receipt. • Save receipts to compare with billing statements.
Sit far back in with your back touching the back support. • Adjust the height of your chair by its function. • Now check your feet. Make a right angle with your knees.
Look straight and your computer monitor screen should be at eye level or slightly under eye level (to prevent neck strain) • Adjust your monitor’s height. • Practice good posture; do not slump in your seat.
