  1. Manufacturing User Group MeetingDecember 7, 2010Metrics to Measure Success

  2. The purpose of reports • To measure performance • If we don’t document it didn’t happen. • If we don’t know where we have been, did we move? • To improve efficiencies • Setting goals • Relevant • Attainable • Process review • Seek to improve • Tools that assist management analysis

  3. Creating the report • What do you wish to measure? • If a goal is clearly defined, then data selection will obvious. • MAXIMO has a wealth of data. • How do you present it? • To upper management it usually is in terms of dollars (money) but the process being measured will give direction. • Keep it simple, specific, and accurate. • Do you need to go back and review the report? • Always go back and see if there is a need for refinement, clarification or even a valid reason for it.

  4. Reports possibilities are unlimited • Ratio of recorded to paid – hrs / $ • Obsolete inventory – taxes • Planned vs. Unplanned – save $ labor and material • Project costs • Failure tracking • Part usage • PM performance • Downtime • 80/20 • Standard repair time variance • Department expenditures to budget

  5. Asset Audit Used for validation of ownership: For depreciation, tracking, audits, tax obligations

  6. Track Work Order Cost by Work Type Resource Allocations are key indicators of the balance between engineering and materials investments Ratios are indicators of potential problem areas High Allocation of Engineering resources suggest resource budgets for labor allocations

  7. Standard Repair Time Reporting Understand capacity restraints in the context of capabilities through visibility to past performance KPI’s used primarily in transportation

  8. Report generated in preparation for scheduled line down maintenance work

  9. Draft Schedule Is Produced then Published Draft Schedules provide basis for negotiation

  10. Measuring Adherence to Planned Schedules Non PM Work Schedule Adherence creates expectation of transparency and accountability

  11. Inventory Management For any period extract Materials by: Account Date Production Line

  12. Report sent out daily on materials issued – goal is to generate Root Cause Analysis reporting

  13. Critical Spare Parts Management
