  2. Penn’s Founding • Founded in 1682 • By William Penn • Reason: To live in peace with fellow Quakers

  3. Penn Franklin • William Penn: founded Great Law of Pennsylvania • Ben Franklin: Founded first school, library, firehouse, and Militia in Pennsylvania

  4. Quakers Beliefs • Not to kill • Don’t pay war taxes • All people are equal

  5. Geoclimate • Climate: Warm Summers, Mild Winters • Geography: Forests, fertile soil, rivers, mountains, plateaus, and coastal plains

  6. Natural resources and Economy • Farmland, timber, furs, coal, forests, rivers, and fertile soil • Economy: Because of this, farms, ship building, iron ore making, trading companies helped them thrive
