  3. Fall 2010 Applicants

  4. Fall 2010 Admission Numbers by College* *All CSU eligible local students were offered admission to SJSU, though not necessarily to their preferred major. For details about Fall 2010 impaction results including Eligibility Index ranges for admission, please see http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/static/admission/frosh-impact.html.

  5. CSU Preparation • A-G Subject requirements (must be completed by graduation.) • Test Scores (SAT/ACT) • Academic GPA (10th-12th) • Eligibility Index (2900-3200 SAT or 694-760 ACT) Remember! All admission is provisional, until verification of final transcript.

  6. Fall 2011: Selection Impaction: SJSU receives applications from more eligible students than there is space for. Therefore, meeting the minimum requirements may not be enough to gain admission to SJSU.

  7. Local vs. Non-Local Admission Areas LOCAL:Graduating from Santa Clara County HS NON-LOCAL:Graduating from HS outside of Santa Clara County • LOCAL: Guaranteed offer of provisional admission to the university with minimum CSU eligibility, however admission to major of choice is not guaranteed. • NON-LOCAL: Admission is offered to non-local applicants based on the overall space available in their major.

  8. Fall 2011 Dates & Deadlines Fall application period: October 1 – November 30 • All Frosh applicants must submit SAT/ACT scores by December 22, 2010 (November test date recommended) • Priority deadline for EOP will be January 15, 2011 • Notification will begin February 25, 2011 • Priority deadline for FAFSA will be March 2, 2011 • Complete the intent to enroll “Next Steps” process by May 1st • Take ELM/EPT before May 1st • Complete required courses by the end of Spring 2011 term • Attend a mandatory Orientation session (dates vary) • Submit final transcripts by July 15, 2011

  9. Fall 2011 Appeals • SJSU reviews each applicant's record thoroughly in the admission process and admission decisions are rarely reversed.  The admissions process is completely objective, based on each applicant's self-reported academic qualifications on the CSU Application for Admission and official transcripts and test scores received by published deadlines. • SJSU does not set aside space in our class for students who appeal admission decisions. Every denied application has been reviewed for maximum consideration. Therefore, for an appeal to have merit, it must bring to light new academic information (send official documentation of new information to eval@sjsu.edu). Grades received in the current academic year are not a basis for an appeal or the reversal of a decision. • SJSU does not consider appeals to missed deadlines, no matter how compelling the circumstances.
