DUE WEEK 9. 20% Flow Chart Act 3, pg 251; Create a flow chart of all of the events and factors that contributed towards the collapse of Easter Island Society. DUE WEEK 1. 5% Ta Moko Research Essay Act 2, pg 236. Research the history and significance of Maori tattoos. What do they stand for and how are they applied? OR Moai Report Activities 1&2 page 248. Write a report on the different theories on how the Maoi were transported around Easter island. What are the benefits and drawbacks of each method of transportation? DUE WEEK 3. 15% Diary Entry Based on Activities 1-3, page 237. Captain Cook’s opinion of the Easter Islanders. What did he find there? What conclusions did he reach? OR Activity 3, pg 244. Recite at least 8 lines and explain its significance. DUE WEEK 2. 10% Polynesian Farm Report Act 4, pg 131; Imagine that you are a Polynesian farmer who has been invited to talk to the class about your farm. Prepare a report which discusses what your farm produces, it’s size and location, layout, climate in the region and problems your farm or your workers may have been experiencing. OR Comic Strip Make up a 10 frame comic strip to tell a story about an historic Polynesian event. Be sure to use different sized shots, relevant titles and dialogue, as well as interesting pictures to tell your story. DUE WEEK 4. 20% Stream of Consciousness Story Create a story which features strong elements of Stream of Consciousness, where the protagonist's thoughts play an important part in the story’s structure . DUE WEEK 6. 20% Reading Programme Students are to read a minimum of 5 books/graphic novels/comic books and to complete an activity on each. OR Novel Study Students are to read ‘So Much to Tell You’ by John Marsden and to complete the attached assignment. DUE WEEK 7. 25% Spelling and Grammar Spelling test results as well as participating in grammar exercises and keeping a spelling page.
