Agriculture • Assists farmers and inspects foods sold across the US
Commerce • Supervises trade and the exchange of goods and services. • Also promotes tourism and business.
Labor • Enforces laws that protect the rights and safety of workers. • Also publishes data to the president on unemployment rate
Health/Human Services • Works to improve the living and health conditions of Americans • In charge of hospitals, medicine, welfare, etc.
Housing/Urban Development • Works to improve living conditions in citites • Assistance with apartment and housing • Reduces crime in cities
Transportation • Manages highways, airways, railroads, subways, sea traffic, etc.
Energy • Promotes new energy alternatives and regulates the ones already in use: • Oil/gas • Coal • Nuclear • Wind • Solar • Hydroelectric • Etc.
Education • Monitors actions of schools and provides resources to help students go on past high school
Veterans’ Affairs • Provides services for people who have served in the armed forces • Healthcare • Pensions • Burial benefits • Etc. • Veterans Hospitals
Homeland Security • Protects the US from attacks within the US • Surveillance of airports, public places, govt. buildings, etc. • Border control
