Romeo. Romeo kills Tybalt Romeo steps in between Tybalt & Mert.; this helps Ty kill Mert. Romeo is coming from his wedding when he sees Mert. & Ty starting to fight Romeo says that his love for Juliet distracted him from fighting well Romeo refuses to fight w/Ty b/c he’s his cousin now.

Benvolio • He likes to fight • He helps Mert. to safety after Mert. is stabbed • “His noble soul has climbed to the clouds.” • he is telling Romeo that Mert. is dead • Ben. explains to the Prince what happened • “…run! Get away!” to Romeo after R. kills Ty
Mercutio • Tells Ben “You’ve quarreled with a man for coughing in the street b/c he woke your dog that was lying asleep in the sun.” • “Damn both your houses! They have made a corpse of me.” talking to Romeo • Ty kills him
Tybalt • After Ty stabs Mert, Mert says “Is he gone and without even a scrap?” • Kills Mert & is then killed by Romeo • Ty is Juliet’s cousin; trf, he’s R’s cousin • Ty gets a clear shot at Mert b/c R. steps in between them • “You wretched boy, you who associated with him here, will soon be near him again.” says this to Romeo
Prince • Lady Cap. Tells the Prince that he must execute Romeo • “Romeo killed him, Tybalt killed Mercutio. Who has to pay the price for Mercutio’s death?”
Lady Capulet • Says that the prince must execute Romeo • “He is a kinsman to the Montague; his bias makes him lie – he’s not telling the truth.” says this about Ben • Gets mad at Juliet’s reaction to her father
Nurse • “These griefs, these sorrows, these troubles make me old. Shame on Romeo!” says this to Juliet • The nurse’s advice to J. is to marry Paris and forget R. ever lived
Juliet • “Doesn’t she count herself lucky…that we’ve arranged for so worthy a gentleman to marry her?” Lord Cap. says this about Juliet’s refusal to marry Paris • “I think I see you, but like a dead person in the bottom of a tomb” says this to Romeo • “I hope your tongue blisters for saying such a thing!” says this to Nurse
Friar Lawrence • “You are banished from Verona. Be patient. The world is broad and wide.” says this to Romeo • Friar Law. Tells R. to go to J. and comfort her; he’s always got a plan • “You shame your body, your love, and your intelligence.” says this to Romeo
