Program Details • The Pre-Apprenticeship allows for additional development of career and technical competencies within a general career field. Pre-Apprenticeship allow students to observe and participate in daily operations, develop direct contact with job personnel, ask questions about particular careers, and perform certain job tasks. • Students will receive training in the following areas • Caterpillar Production Systems • Manufacturing Skills Standards Council (MSSC): Safety • Human Resources Development Training • Students will work part time at Caterpillar facilities in the role of product assembler • Students paid for time working on the floor • Students paid for Caterpillar specific training PRE-APPRENTICESHIP
How does the program work? • Caterpillar Pre-Apprenticeship Program • The Caterpillar Assembly Pre-Apprenticeship program is a year and a half program that prepares students for employment at the Caterpillar facility located in Clayton, North Carolina. • Registered Program with the Department of Labor, Apprenticeship and Training Bureau • Provides students with a link between education in the classroom and skill training in the workplace. Creates future opportunities, exposure to real world work force needs. • Partnership with Johnston Community College • Career and College Promise (CCP) program at Johnston Community College provides the educational opportunity for students accepted into the program.
