Why is this important for your University and for you as faculty staff? • Due to merger allocation of training and research funds from the government • IRA is being located TZS 44m/- equivalent about USD 27,600/- or DKK 164,000/- • There are overwhelming/many activities which needs to be implemented e.g. • Increasing/cropping up areas of academic interests • Increase level of their area of expertise
What are the existing strategies for this at your University? • Advertising through websites, networks and other medias/studying abroad • Through educational fare, forums and exhibitions e.g. Tanzania parliament exhibitions • Participation in different regional and sub-regional networks e.g. New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) which is a programme of the African Union created by Africans, etc • Establishing link/partnership with donors i.e. with the North e.g. World Bank, Danish programs, SIDA, USAID, etc
What skills, knowledge, information, experience, etc are you lacking? • Ability to locate funding opportunities • Experience in forming competitive alliances and consortia • The art of targeting applications to the call • Knowledge on how to write a winning proposal
How can your University boost capacity within this field? • By offering training within the approved curriculum • Increase exposure and encourage faculty to build teaching, research and consultancy skills • Raise commitment of faculty in fund raising activities • Rewarding staff for success in attracting donations
How can Universities in Denmark assist you? • Providing training, couching and mentoring • Develop exchange programs • Writing joint proposals
