  3. NLRSD Preliminary School Status 2013-2014 Priority schoolsinclude the bottom 5% of schools with the lowest levels of student performance. Focus schoolsinclude 10% of Title I schools with the largest TAGG/Non-TAGG achievement gaps. Needs Improvement schools scored above the bottom 5%, and do not have significant achievement gaps between their TAGG/Non- TAGG. Needs Improvement schools have at least one academic area or subgroup needing advancement. Achieving schools met all their performance goals in 2013 for their TAGG and combine population. Exemplary schoolsinclude the top 1% of schools that had high performance, high TAGG and high progress. Focus schools- Crestwood, Indian Hills, No. Heights, Pike View, Seventh Street (status pending), Lakewood Middle Needs Improvement schools- Amboy, Boone Park, Glenview, Lakewood Elementary, Meadow Park, Park Hill, Ridgeroad Middle, North Little Rock High, North Little Rock Academy, NLRSD

Elementary Areasof Focus/Goals(proposals to correct deficiencies) • Cognitively Guided Instruction (CGI) • Teachers are receiving professional development in math through CGI which teaches methods that will enhance teaching performance and practice give students ways to solve real world math problems. • More hands on math is being taught and students are being asked to think critically about math. • Reflex Math • To prepare students for the PARCC assessment in math students will be administered "mock" problems to practice methods and to see how the test is being formatted.  • Professional Learning Communities and Grade Level Teams are meeting to discuss math instruction and student progress and to gain ideas from each other through these powerful networking tools. • Academic Improvement Plans and Intensive Reading Interventions have been developed and shared  with parents for students who are struggling and are being progressed monitored to determine effectiveness. • More technology is being used by students and teachers. • STAR Math Assessment • Utilizing Math Coaches in some schools • Math Curriculum Maps/Units have been revised and developed. • After School Programs are being offered to students who are struggling in literacy and math. • After School Programs are targeted to meet the differentiated, prescriptive needs of struggling learners.
