The History of NCEP • 1964– Reorganization • Computation Division • Became Data Automation Division in 1966 • Development Division • Analysis and Forecast Division • Extended Forecast Division • 1972 – Some more changes • Forecast Division established • Included Extended Forecast Division and Analysis and Forecast Division • Automation Division • 1974 – Move to World Weather Building

The History of NCEP • 1979 – Climate Analysis Center created • 1984 – Additions • Computer Operations Division from NOAA Office of Information and Management Services • FD named Meteorological Operations Division • NHC transferred to NMC • NSSFC transferred to NMC • 1988 – Northern high seas marine function transferred from regions to MOD

  5. The History of NCEP • 1995 – NCEP established (cont.) • (NSSFC – NAWAU) = SPC • Moved to Norman in 1997 • NHC g TPC • 1996 • SEL g SEC (NCEP’s ninth center) • Remains an OAR Laboratory
