Key Words/ Terms Public University- A university that is funded by the government, generally less expensive than a private university. Cheaper for residents of the state where the college is located. Examples include University of Texas at Austin, Texas State University in San Marcos, and Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Private University- A university that is privately-funded. Tuition for a private university is the same for all students, no matter their state of residence. Examples include St. Edward’s University in Austin, Rice University in Houston, and Baylor University in Waco.
Online Activity 1. Go to collegeboard.org. *This is where you will sign up for SAT tests and research colleges. 2. Create an account. *This is a website you will be using for the next few years, so use a password you will remember. 3. Once you have completed this, you can study on your own.
