  1. Two suicide bombers reportedly detonate and one is apparently “detected” and killed by ANP along the road to the airport. Attack starts here when ANP detect a car load of armed men at 1330 6 Taliban hold up in a building here which has obviously been stockpiled with RPG rounds and linked machinegun ammo. This major east / west road was cut by ISAF years ago after 2 Americans were killed outside of Camp Eggers while they watched a fuel truck pumping diesel into their storage tanks. When Ambassador Crocker says traffic is the biggest problem in Kabul he’s right. The municipal government has been complaining about ISAF blocking its roads since 2005. Why we have bases in that location remains a great mystery to me. They piss the Afghans off and just a little – a lot. You go sit on the one east west connector road ISAF allows to remain open (the one through Wazir Akbar Khan) and see if you don’t get pissed off too.
